IPL Photofacial

IPL stands for intense pulsed light, this is a non-laser therapy that can target unwanted unwanted signs of aging. IPL can treat acne, rosacea, veins, fine lines and wrinkles, and unwanted pigmentation. A "Photofacial" utilizes these light pulses to target and treat the visible signs of aging to leave skin smooth with an even complexion. The light pulses can be adjusted for patients of different skin types and tones. IPL can be utilized for spot treatments as well as targeting larger areas of the skin like the whole face, neck, and décolleté.

How to prepare for IPL Photofacial

Scheduling a consultation with one of our providers is the first step in preparing for an IPL or Photofacial treatment. It is essential to protect your skin from the sun prior to treatment, and some patients may need to begin a pigment inhibiting skincare protocol prior to treatment. You will need to avoid the use of exfoliants and active skincare ingredients like retinol for 4 days prior to treatment.

Aftercare for IPL Photofacial

Your treated skin will feel like it is sunburnt immediately after treatment, but this sensation will fade within a few hours. You may have some redness, flaking, swelling, or bruising for a few days after treatment. The treated areas will darken after treatment, and pigmented areas may flake off after a few days.

It is necessary to avoid sun exposure and tanning beds after this treatment. Remember to apply SPF 30 or higher on skin that is exposed to the sun. Avoid the use of active ingredients on the treated skin for one week. You may use cold compresses to soothe the treated areas.
